Skin Cancer Awareness: Conduct Regular Self-Exams
Regular self-exams are particularly crucial for individuals at a higher risk of skin cancer, including those with weakened immune systems, those who previously had skin cancer, individuals with numerous moles or skin spots, and those with a significant family history of skin cancer.
IHSS Notice of Action
All approved In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) recipients will receive a Notice of Action (NOA) form when they are approved for IHSS or if there is a change in their case. The NOA form will detail what services an IHSS provider can perform.
National Family Caregiver Month
In Santa Clara County, 76% of IHSS consumers have a family member providing their IHSS services. Family can be a relative, parent, spouse, or even someone who is not related to us but is a person’s chosen family.
IHSS Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Required
Independent Providers who do not live with their IHSS recipient will need to use one of the options below to check in and check out daily.
Keep Contact Information Current
If a recipient’s contact information is outdated, the IHSS social workers cannot schedule the yearly evaluations of services and hours, nor can IHSS send information about changes to the IHSS program. It is also important to make sure your voicemail box is not full.
Provide a Safe and Healthy Work Environment
Your home is the work place for your IP. Providing a safe and healthy work place for the IPs is important and helps to build a successful and happy work relationship.

Attempt to work through any minor problems with your provider before you decide to end their employment.
