Registry Care Provider Recruitment

Registry Referral Services

A major service of Public Authority Services by Sourcewise is its Registry, which matches IHSS consumers with pre-screened Independent Care Providers (IPs) who most closely meet their needs.

The Public Authority Registry maintains a database of experienced IPs who have applied to be referred to IHSS consumers who need to hire a care provider. All providers listed on the Registry have attended a three and a half hour Registry Introduction Training, been interviewed by a member of our staff and had their references checked. Additionally, they have undergone a California Department of Justice criminal background check as part of the screening process and have successfully completed the State mandated enrollment process to be cleared as eligible to work as an IHSS independent provider.

The Public Authority Registry assists IHSS consumers who need help finding an in-home caregiver by providing a list of qualified Registry IPs. It is the responsibility of the consumer to use these lists to interview, select, hire and supervise the IP to perform the tasks authorized by IHSS.

Every effort is made to obtain specific information from both the consumer and the IP regarding authorized hours and services, if pets are in the home, smoking/non-smoking, geographical location, preferred language, etc., to make stronger matches. Preferences are taken into consideration when searches are done to obtain the right list of IPs for the consumer and to assist IPs in finding lasting employment. Every effort is made to ensure a good match is possible with the lists of IPs being referred.

In addition to helping IHSS consumers find and hire IPs, the Public Authority Registry also provides tips and guidance to consumers and IPs. It is important they understand their respective responsibilities which is essential to ensure a long lasting, productive and respectful employer/employee relationship. Currently, requests for provider lists are only taken by phone to ensure confidentiality and a careful review of consumer's IHSS authorized hours and preferences. Voicemails are returned within 24 hours, Monday through Friday. On-Call Registry

The On-Call Registry (OCR) is a safety net for qualified IHSS consumers whose independent provider (IP) is unable to provide needed care because of a personal emergency or illness, and if the consumer has no family member or other resource to call on. 

The OCR staff will assess each OCR service request individually based on needs and situation.

The OCR can not provide general domestic services nor transportation, unless the need is related to personal care. IP vacations are not covered by the OCR. The service will assist with, but is not limited to, bathing, personal hygiene, and possibly meal preparation and laundry. 

Ensuring the well-being and safety of the IHSS consumer by filling temporary needs is the goal of the OCR. The On-Call Registry is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
